An incomplete fragment from a cast Aesica type brooch dating to the early Roman period (c. AD 60 to 80) : The fragment is heavily rolled / abraded and almost all detail is lost. It seems that the undecorated wings are semi-cylindrical in plan with no evidence of wing caps, the spring and pin are lost. A large spinal ridge descend the bow dividing the brooch into two parts. Cast copper alloy Roman brooch 'Headstud' type dating from the 2nd century AD. Extremely worn. The foot is missing but a sufficient portion of the brooch survives to identify this as a headstud brooch. The head part of the brooch is still present as well as part of the wings and bow. The head of the brooch is decorated with a moulded headstud - hence the name. The brooch has a mainly brown patina with traces of green where there is lamination. An incomplete and corroded cast copper alloy Colchester derivative (Polden Hill) type Roman brooch dating to the period AD 80-120. The axis bar, spring pin and foot are lost. The spring was probably formed of iron wire which was held in place by an external cord which is fixed to the rearward facing hook positioned at the midpoint on the upper edge of the reverse. A near complete cast copper alloy Roman Trumpet brooch dating from AD 75 - 175. The brooch has been broken into two conjoining parts across the lower bow by modern agricultural practices. The break is fresh and modern. The bow of the brooch has an angular profile and an angular D shaped cross section. The bow tapers from a flared head to a flared bulbous foot knop. The head of the brooch is complete, it is oval in plan, and tapers into the bow. A heavily corroded and broken Polden Hill type Roman brooch dated to (c.AD 70-240). The bow is missing it's lower section and catch plate, the pin is also missing. The wings are intact and the end plates are pierced - they hold the copper alloy axis bar. The spring is also mostly intact and remains of five turns survive wrapped around the axis bar are present, an external chord passes through a drilled hole in a central rib on the head of the brooch. An incomplete and heavily corroded copper-alloy Trumpet variant brooch of Roman date, c. AD 75 - 175. The head is oval in shape with a small angle bowed which extends from the mid-point of the front edge. The spring is held by two pierced lugs positioned on either edge. The axis bar and spring are copper alloy and the spring is formed of seven turns with an internal chord that runs along the lower edge of the head. An incomplete copper alloy Colchester derivative, hinged (dolphin type or T-shaped) brooch dating to the Roman period (c. AD 43-100). The brooch has wide, tubular arms showing no sign of decoration. A solid wing case is present and the hinged pin would have been held by an iron axis bar (both of which are now lost). A cast copper alloy decorative bovine (bulls head) mount most probably a vessel escutcheon dating to the very late Iron Age or the early Roman period. The mount is highly stylised in form being broadly rectangular in plan and D shaped in cross section. The head of the mount has two distinct integrally cast spiral knops projecting from the upper corners of the front face.
