A strap mount cast from copper alloy. The mount has a light green patina and shows areas on both the front and reverse of corrosion and pitting. On the front there are traces of a silvering or tinning, but this has been severly abraided and is now only visible in places. The mount is broadly of a sub-elongated triangle in plan. The edges have been abraided and rounded in the plough-soil causing the mount to become a-symetrical. A fragment of a late Bronze Age cast bronze socketed axe consisting of the cutting edge and lower blade. It is sub-rectangular in plan with a slightly curved blade. The sides, adjacent to the cutting edge, taper inwards towards the break. In section the fragment is sub-triangular. The fragment measures 51mm width, 26mm length, and is 11mm thick. Early Bronze Age barbed and tanged flint arrowhead. This arrowhead has been knapped from a light pale orange / light tan (honey) colour piece of flint. It measures 32 mm in length, 19mm maximum width, and is 3.5mm thick. It weighs 2.77 grams.The tang of the arrowhead is 7mm long and 7.2mm wide. The arrowhead has been knapped using a number of different techniques, including direct and indirect percussion, as well as pressure / ripple flaking. Roman copper alloy Claudian as, contemporary copy. Excellent example of how barbarous these imitations can be. Robert Kenyon, following on from the work by the French scholars P-A. Besombes and M. Bompaire (in Trésors Monétaires XXI, 2005), is working through the British examples of Claudian coinage recorded through the PAS assigning many so-called Claudian contemporary copies to Roman auxiliary mints which operated at Lyons (Gaul) and in Spain.
