Sherd from either an urn or carinated jar of early medieval date (500 – 700AD). The sherd is broken and incomplete; the inner surface of the pot is lost due to a laminating fracture. What remains is much abraded. The upper surface of the sherd is decorated; the surface is burnished and a decorative pattern impressed. This pattern consists of a series of double horizontal parallel bands which have been formed by impressing the surface with a tool, the section of each grooved band is U shaped.
