A rim fragment of a wheelmade ceramic vessel. The rim is slightly bulbous and ‘n’ shaped in profile. The core and interior is a light grey and the exterior is a mottled grey/brown colour. The fabric has frequent, hard, angular, grey geological inclusions of varied size. The sherd weighs 14.48g. The fabric is probably Malvernian Ware dating to the 2nd to 4th centuries. A handle fragment of a ceramic vessel, possibly a jug. The handle is rectangular in plan, with both terminals being broken and it is curved in profile. The fabric is orange throughout and has frequent small white quartz inclusions. It is slightly micaceous. The exterior surface has traces of a red slip with traces of a mottled green/yellow glaze. A body fragment of a Post Medieval salt glazed vessel. The sherd is a body fragment which is decorated salt glaze forming a mottled red/brown and light yellow/green coloured surface. The surface also has remains of an applied handle which has been decorated with three finger indentations. The handle is missing. The fabric is a stone ware which has a fine grey core and pale surfaces. The fabric has been highly fired. The sherd is a fragment which has fresh breaks. The sherd weighs 96.4g. The style and decoration of the sherd suggests a late 16th to 18th century date.

The sherd is a rim fragment, probably of a jar. The sherd is made from Severn Valley Ware, which dates to early 2nd to 4th centuries (Webster, P 1976 ‘Severn Valley Ware: A Preliminary Study’ Transactions of the Bristol and Gloucestershire Archaeological Society Vol. 94). The fabric quite hard and has orange coloured surfaces with a mid grey coloured core. There are occasional small voids within the fabric, and occasional small red coloured inclusions. It is also micaceous. The sherd is slightly abraded, and weighs 40.3g.

A clay pipe bowl of 1630-1640. The bowl is plain with a rouletted ring below the mouth of the bowl. The clay is blottered. It does not have a makers mark. The bowl has an oval bulge measuring 19.7mm by 18.2mm. Forward lean and shape suggest this pipe was made in Wiltshire, in particular the Salisbury area. The pipe is made of very rough clay and not well finished and probably therefore not mass produced, more for local trade. It's small size and shape do suggest an early date: 1630-1640. The internal diameter of the bowl opening is 10.0mm. The pipe is 29.5mm tall.

This sherd formed about 5% of the rim and the diameter was between 14cm and 18cm. The fabric is course, being a dull orange in colour, with a thin grey core, suggesting a local source. There are many inclusions of micra, coal grit, black grit, quartz and temper. The vessel was possibly a cooking pot. The vessel wall varies in thickness from 11.9mm to 12.2mm. This fragment weighs 16.9g and is 36mm wide by 32mm tall.

A rim sherd of medieval pottery. The rim is flatted topped with a shallow, semi-circular lip on the outer surface (about 5mm in diameter). The vessel wall was near vertical suggesting a storage jar. The sherd represents about 5% of the rim, which had a diameter between 12cm and 16cm. The fabric is course, being orange-red in colour, with red-brown patches and inclusions of micra, quartz and black grit. On the inner surface there is a blackened residue. The wall thickness is 9.0mm immediately below the shallow rim. This fragment weighs 5.6g and is 24mm wide by 25mm tall.

A base sherd of medieval or post medieval pottery (1400-1600). The side wall is near vertical and the base flat, making the vessel a jar. The base diameter was 17cm, and the sherd represents 9% of its circumfernce. The fabric is course, being orange-buff in colour, with red-brown patches. There is wide spread micra, with occasional flecks of quartz and black grit. On the inner surface in the junction between wall and base is a continous patch of olive green glaze. The wall thickness is 8.7mm. This fragment weighs 27.3g and is 51mm wide by 39mm tall.

Three pottery sherds from a Roman vessel. These sherds are Severn Valley Ware. The fabric is orange buff in colour with a grey core Two of the sherds fit together and have a decorative rib that runs horizontal to the vesel. The semi circular rib is about 3mm high and 6mm wide. The vessel wall is 5.8mm thick. This fragments weigh 4.15g, 2.72g and 1.84g.

Pottery sherd from a Post Medieval vessel. This sherd comes from the vessel wall and has a brown-red glaze on the inner surface. The course fabric is orange in colour. It is micra rich with lots of black inclusions. The vessel wall is 5.7mm thick. The fragment is 37mm wide by 31mm tall. This fragments weighs 7.6g.
