The border is plain and is formed by red enamel. The field is patterned 'checky' which consists of blue enamel and gilt. There are only traces of gilt remaining, however, the majority of the blue and red enamel remains. Each corner of the shield shaped mount has a circular rivet hole. The reverse of the mount has traces of a dark green patina, however the majority of the surface is a dark brown colour. The mount is slightly curved, ')' with the apex on the mount being the decorated face.

A fragment of a cast copper alloy socketed spearhead, probably from the middle bronze age (1500BC to 1150BC).
The fragment has lozenge-section midrib which tapers towards the tip, which is missing. The fragment is also broken across the socket, which has a circular internal section, and tapers to a point approximately 35mm from the broken base of the socket. In section the thin wings are triangular rather than being entirely flat. The wings terminate towards the base of the fragment, but the damage to the surface of the spearhead means that it is unclear if this is due to loss of…

Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A prehistoric stone axe of probable early Neolithic date. The axe has been made from a fine grained igneous rock, dark grey in colour with fine white inclusions. The axe has been manufactured by chipping and grinding. The chipping is predominantly associated with the lateral edges and the butt of the axe. The blade has been formed through grinding of the body of the axe. The axe is fairly crude and not nearly so finely finished as some Neolithic axes. This may perhaps indicate that it was intended to be purely functional and not intended to be used as a status symbol. Damage to the bl…

A possible late Neolithic or early Bronze Age flint oblique arrowhead. The flint is roughly arrowhead shaped, and appears to have a possible barb and tang. However, these do not appear to have been deliberately fashioned through retouch, and the shape of the flint may be accidental.
