A Post Medieval silver sixpence of William III (AD 1694-1702). York mint dating to AD 1696 (Spink 3526). Spink (2000: 328).
Coin is extremely worn and appears to have been bent into and S-shape. Coins with such a double bend are not uncommon finds but their significance is not fully understood. According to Dr Kevin Leahy such 'Love tokens' were made using coins dating from the time of Elizabeth I (1558-1603) to the reign of Ann (1702-1714) with some Georgian examples. They were particularly common in the reign of William III (1694-1702)…

A heavily eroded post medieval forged silver sixpence of probable 17th century date. The coin has a mid green coloured abraded core over which a silver / tin wash has applied and the surface has decayed. Almost all detail is lost - making identification very difficult. From what can be seen a later 17th century date is preferred - possibly being a copy of a William III sixpence

A heavily clipped, silver sixpence of Charles I, 1625-1649. Obverse shows kings crowned bust facing left with VI behind head. Rear shows flat topped shield, area above shield too worn to see any date or symbol. The majority of the legends have been lost to clipping. The date range of this coin can be reduced to the period 1625-1629 due to the use of a square topped shield over long cross fourchee (rather than later oval or garnished shields). This suggests this coin was struck within Group A or B
Thickness 0.5mm, maximum clipped diameter 22mm. Weight 1.8g

A heavily clipped and polished silver coin, most probably struck during the reign of Elizabeth I as a sixpence. It has subsequently been clipped, using the circular band around the portrait / bust, to remove the inscriptions on both faces. The obverse is heavily polished removing all traces of the bust. The reverse face is partially polished, although part of the shield and the date 15[??] can be seen. The new size of the coin is similar to that of a half groat of Elizabeth - Charles I reigns.
