A contemporary copy or forgery of a silver half crown of Charles I. The coin has a copper alloy (bronze) core with sheet silver applied over the surface. The coin is very worn possibly deliberately to allow the coin to pass as official. It is also badly abraded with the edges feathering and copper corrosion has leached through the silver surface. The coin is a copy of the half crown with the obverse detail almost completely lost. The reverse shows a garnished oval shield which would have been used between 1634-1649.
