Medieval coin: double patard of Charles The Bold, Duke of Burgundy AD 1467-1477. Mintmark is a lion rampant in the centre of obverse shield, and the coin may have been minted in Flanders. The legends are abbreviated and read as KAROLVS:DEI:GRA:DVX:BG:BRAB:ZLIN:FLA (translating as 'Charles, by the grace of God Duke of Burgundy, Limburg and Flanders'), while the reverse reads SIT:NOMEN:DOMINI:BENEDICTVM (translating as 'May the Name of the Lord be Blessed') (Taken from BERK-0D943E).
