A hammered gold sheet of uncertain date. The sheet has a maximum length of 51.4mm, width of 39.3mm, 0.7mm thick and weighs 14.76g. The sheet is lacking any diagnostic features so the use and date cannot be determined. Small percussion marks on the surface indicate the sheet was intentionally flattened before being deposited, discarded, or lost. Due to the uncertainty of the date, the object is not considered Treasure under the Treasure Act 1996.

An incomplete, copper alloy object of unknown date, likely Roman to Post Medieval (c. AD 43-1800). The object is rectangular in plan and profile and has a central oval perforation (7.87mm long, 5.67mm wide). At the bottom of the object, it is 14.94mm wide and 3.75mm thick, stepping up to 16.04mm wide and 5.15mm thick and then gradually increasing to 18.57mm wide and 6.07mm thick just before the break at the top and then to 7.35mm thick at the break. Whilst the bottom two thirds of the object appear to be solid, it does appear as if there may be a short section near the top t…

Decorated copper alloy rod of uncertain date The rod now forms an open, sub-oval ring but was of uncertain original from (with a length of 48.1mm, a height of 35mm, a straightened length of approximately 106mm and a weight of 5.5g) and is broken on one end. The complete terminal is flattened (with a thickness of 1.6mm and 4.0mm wide) but the loss of the surface has removed any decoration. The rod is of sub-square section (4.0mm wide and 3.5mm thick) and is decorated with closely spaced ribbing. The decoration covered all four sides of the rod but has worn away on the upper face, …

An irregular fragment of cast copper alloy plate of uncertain date. The fragment is broadly rectangular in plan and cross section. All edges are heavily eroded and abraded; they do not represent the original edges. The upper surface has a poorly preserved cast pattern comprising radiating elements between oval lentoid open loops. It has a deep green coloured surface patina. A direct parallel has not been found although it is highly likely that it is from the rim of a decorated metal dish - possibly a chafing dish of later medieval date (AD 1200 - 1600). The fragment measures: 33.…

A cast copper alloy artefact of uncertain date and function. The fitting (junction or cap) is most likely to be a decorative finial from a domestic decorative object, possibly from a piece of furniture (possibly a fire guard ?). The artefact is broadly sub- rectangular in plan and cross section being decorated with two cast lobes - one on either edge. The cap is filled with the remains of two iron rods which extend through the cap and terminate in flattened bosses on either edge - projecting slightly from either edge. An incomplete unidentified artefact of unknown function and date. The fragment comprises both iron and copper alloy possibly being part of a hinge or having a hinged element. As it is unidentified a specific date cannot be attributed - although it is more likely to be later than the later medieval period - a suggested date is AD 1400 - 1800. The fitting is irregular in plan - being broadly sub-rectangular - and also irregular in cross section. On one edge of the fitting is a cylindrical element - possibly an encased hinge pin. The surface is a mid - light green colour and it is eroded in the ploughsoil. This type of artefact is not normally recorded, however it was recovered from close to the findspot of HESH-4DE0D7 and may hint at Late Bronze Age metalworking in the area. A complete copper alloy rod of uncertain date, possibly Roman or Medieval in date. The artefact has a circular cross section at the end with the perforation and a square cross section at the other end. The perforation is just below the tip. The artefact is possibly a stylus, styluses do appear in copper alloy, the end usual tapers, there are no examples with a perforation. A pendant weight has also been suggested, the examples on the database are often lead and of a medieval date. The artefact is 70.6mm in length, 6.35mm thick and weighs 13.1 grams.

Lead alloy terminal consisting of three rounded rings in a row, increasing in diameter from a rounded point. Between the first two rings is a flat band. On the base is the scar of a shaft. In profile the artifact is slightly oval. Length 26.0mm, Width 12.8mm, Weight 13.4g Peter Reavill FLO: The top of this artefact is possibly an acorn knop and the scar at teh base is wide enough to match a stem of a post medieval lead alloy (pewter) spoon. The artefact is erroded and the surface patina unsound: this identification is very tentative.

A cast copper alloy bifurcated fitting of uncertain date and function. The artefact consists of a thickened shank that expands to form a cast loop. It is irregular in both plan and cross section. The head of the loop is very robust and iron staining around the fitting suggests that it held a length of iron. It is also interesting to not the different size of the holes, one being wide (4.4mm) and the other significantly smaller (2.5mm). An incomplete cast lead alloy artefact, possibly a post medieval shy-cock or a fragment from a piece of decorative horse harness. The artefact has become badly twisted and folded in the plough soil and the original form is difficult to describe. In cross section it is sub-rectangular (slightly D shaped) with bevelled edges. The reverse face is plain and undecorated - there is no evidence of attachment lugs of fixing mounts. It does not appear to have been cast into a mould. It is a dark green colour, with an even surface patina. Along the edges, patches are present where the bare metal is visible. Two pierced stone water worn pebbles of unknown date or function. The two pebbles are of differing sizes but each have a single pierced hole which is perforated diagonally from one edge to the other. Both holes differ in size and do not seem to be drilled, in that there profile does not conform to the usual (egg-timer) shape. There also seems to be little wear on the holes. It has been suggested by the finder that they may be beads and this is a possibility, the discovery of them together also increases the likelihood of this idea. Cast copper alloy fragment of unknown object dating from the later Bronze Age - Post Medieval period 1500 BC - 1600 AD. The object is broken and much abraded; it consists of a tapering L shaped section which also thickens along its length. The edge of the object has a rolled coroner and it is possible that this may be a socket of some sort. It is irregular in plan and profile. There is no decoration present and the inner and outer surfaces are similarly patinated. Cast copper alloy artefact or unknown date and function. It is likely that this artefact dates from the Roman period (and was found in association with a group of coins dating to the late Roman period 250-410 AD). The artefact is cast in one piece and is in the shape of a broad circular disc with two small rounded lug shaped knops which extend from opposite edges. The disc itself is relatively flat and sub-rectangular in cross section. The two knops are lentoid (sub-oval) in cross section and circular in profile.
