Cast copper alloy Roman brooch 'Headstud' type dating from the 2nd century AD. Extremely worn. The foot is missing but a sufficient portion of the brooch survives to identify this as a headstud brooch. The head part of the brooch is still present as well as part of the wings and bow. The head of the brooch is decorated with a moulded headstud - hence the name. The brooch has a mainly brown patina with traces of green where there is lamination. A near complete cast copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative Polden Hill type of Roman date (80-120 AD). The wings are complete with flat and pierced end caps. The axis bar and spring are present; the axis bar is formed from a length of iron wire and holds the copper alloy spring and pin. The pin is formed of wire turned nine times and held in place by an external cord which is fixed to a rearward facing hook positioned at the midpoint on the upper edge of the reverse. A copper alloy Roman coin / nummus most probably of the fourth century. The coin is heavily abraded from ploughing with almost all of both surfaces removed, with just a bit of dark green patina remaining of the original surface. There are no distinguishable features remaining. The eroded surface is red brown. Diameter 12.5mm. Thickness 0.9mm. Weight 0.4g.

Late Iron Age (0 to 2nd century) or Roman fitting or pin: The object is a length of copper alloy which is rectangular in section. Half of the object is straight in profile and tapers in width to a blunt point. The other half is curled to form a penannular loop with the gap sited above the straight section. The object has an incomplete, well-developed light green patina. It measures 52.06mm long, 18.12mm wide across the loop and 5.16mm thick at the loop. The weight is 3.7g.
