An incomplete, silver Post Medieval Scottish eighth thistle Merk of James VI Scotland (AD 1567-1625). Eighth coinage dating to AD 1601-1604. It is very worn, especially on the reverse, and parts of the outer flan are missing.
Obverse description: Crowned shield with lion rampant.
Obverse inscription: IACOBVS . 6 . D . G . R . SCOTO[RVM].
Reverse description: Crowned thistle flanked by two leaves.
Reverse inscription: REGEM IO[VA] [PROTEGIT].
Diameter: 17.68mm. Thickness: 0.43mm. Die axis: 4.
