Neolithic polished axe head fragment. Only the forward part remains and consists of the curved cutting edge of the axe. The blade has been ground into an asymmetrical crescent; from the back of the blade the polished head of the axe expands upwards to the main body of the axe, it is this point where the main portion of the axe is truncated. There are multiple large flaking scars are the rear and of the head and running down both sides, one particularly large hinge scar is visible on one side. Light grey/creamy flint with grey speckles

An almost complete unpolished flaked axe of Neolithic date and of Scandinavian type. The object has a convex cutting edge and straight parallel sides which taper to a squared off butt end. The cutting edge measures 64mm in width and is 3mm thick. A large oval flake has been removed from one face just above the cutting edge in recent times and is likely due to plough damage. Each face of the object has been worked with flaking. The flaked sides taper evenly towards the butt end which is rectangular in cross-section. The butt end measures 25.5mm in width and is 22mm thick. The butt e…

A complete knapped, ground and polished flint axehead of later Neolithic date (2900-2100 BC). The axe is knapped from a mid grey coloured flint; a substantial mid milky white / pale grey surface patina is present. The grey colour of the flint is only visible through areas of modern damage. The axe head is broadly sub-rectangular in plan and sub-oval (humped) in cross section. In plan the sides of the axe taper from the widest point at the cutting edge to a relatively wide but thin and rounded butt. Both long edges taper evenly and the axe is broadly symmetrical. The sides of the axe h…

The axe is knapped from a mid orange coloured flint with considerable mid - pale yellow and milky white inclusions. This axe is broadly sub-rectangular in plan and sub-oval (humped) in cross section.
