Object type: WEIGHT
Broad period: MODERN
County: County of Herefordshire

Cast lead alloy weight of unknown date probably later post medieval or modern 1600-1800 AD. The weight is an irregular cylinder being sub-circular in plan and rectangular in profile. There is no sign of decoration and the weight is a mid grey colour with an even, but powdery corrosion. From the size and shape of the weight it seems likely that it was cast within a copper alloy thimble, possibly one made post 1700. The weight measures 16.3mm high, 15.3mm diameter and weighs 23.36 grams.
