Copper alloy strap fitting/ possible harness mount in the form of a long vertical bar with bevelled sides. The top end is expanded to form a rounded terminal with an elongated knop at the tip. This is separated from the main shaft by a recessed collar. The main shaft is thick with bevelled sides and a truncated large hook at the base. There is a copper alloy rivet with globular head in the centre of the main shaft and a second similar rivet in the centre of the terminal. Traces of gilding are visible on the surface.

Medieval copper alloy mount
The cast mount is incomplete and distorted (with a length of 76.6mm, a straightened length of 78.4mm and a weight of 16.1g). The terminals have projecting knops of D-shaped section before the attachment perforations (of 3.5mm and 4.1mm diameter) and are marked by edge faceting to define the terminals. The arms were of Sub-triangular section, now worn and corroded (with a width of 9.8mm and a thickness of 3.4mm). At the centre is a square panel (12mm square and 3.0mm thick) with damaged projections on one side, possibly originally forming a loop (givi…

A cast copper alloy enamelled mount of Medieval (1150-1250) date. The mount is broadly rectangular in form with a smaller three dimensional integrally cast anthropomorphic head projecting from the mid-point of the upper edge. In cross section the mount is C shaped with a hollow back. The projecting head is relatively small but well cast with distinct ridges representing hair or possibly a cowl. The eye sockets are sunken with the eyes themselves being dark blue/black glass pellet inserts. The nose is rounded and the mouth indistinct. The neck is slender and conjoins with the top of th…

Medieval copper alloy mount, probably originally square, but it is incomplete now. The mount is a flat plate with a central 6-petalled flower or sun in the centre within a square or rectangular frame, of which only half remains. There is openwork between the petals and frame. The frame has a low-relief groove forming a circle if it were complete. The central of the flower has a small conical pellet. Each of the remaining corners of the frame has a rivet hole.
The mount has a dark green-grey coloured patina. It measures 31.82mm long, 26.63mm wide, 2.94mm thick and weighs 6.07g.

A cast copper alloy belt mount or buckle plate of probably high medieval date (1200-1400). The plate is broadly square in plan and is slightly curved in profile. It is pierced irregularly in four places (diameter 2.0mm) with a small copper alloy rivet remaining in one of the holes. The upper face is decorated with a lion or mythical beast - most probably a dragon - engraved onto the surface. The beast has four feet with one front and one rear leg raised in the attitude of walking / advancing left. The tail is raised and looped back upon itself (or possibly depicts segmented wings?) Th…

A cast copper alloy strap fitting (mount) or belt plate fragment of probable medieval date (AD 1100-1350). The artefact is sub-rectangular in plan and domed in profile. The upper surface has a cast design which has been gilded and also design detailing has been pierced. The upper surface is both eroded and corroded and much of the detail is lost; the cast design is intricate and most probably a quadruped (whose feet are depicted as paws) facing left with a spiral shaped tail and forward facing head.
