Note: this item was found on a known Medieval settlement, making the likelihood of this object being Medieval very high.  A copper-alloy Medieval strap end in very poor condition. The tip of the strap end is sadly bent over, possibly due to plough damage. The none damaged side shows two layers of metal, which the strap would have gone into, and three rivets, the tips of which are covered up on the opposite side. There is a small hole at the widest end of it where a rivet would have gone through securing the 2 pieces of metal together. The item has a dark green patina. …

A near complete Medieval copper alloy single loop sub-triangular buckle dated c AD 1250-1400. The outer edge of the buckle frame is expanded and terminates in a blunted point that is flanked by two small nub-like projections creating an irregular trefoil shaped moulding. The opposing edge has a narrowed and offset strap bar with two terminal knops on either edge. The upper surface of the buckle is decorated with a recessed pin rest flanked by horizontal grooves. A medieval fragment of a copper alloy strap end, of late 14th- or early 15th-century. What remains is a slightly trapezoidal attachment 'box' for a strap end of lyre-shaped form. A cast copper alloy single looped 'roller' buckle. The frame is oval with a narrower offset strap bar expanded at each end with two small knops. The front end of the buckle is expanded and decorated with two knops the loop is recessed to house a copper alloy sheet roller decorated with six circumfrential incisions.The pin bar is recessed and narrow. A complete but worn copper alloy medieval casket key (AD 1150 to AD 1400). The outside of the bow is sub circular, probably from wear, while the inside is circular. The shank is attached to the bow at the mid point of the right hand side by a tapered shoulder that still shows some signs of it's decoration in the form of a series of parallel inscised lines. The frame has a triangular shaped, notched pin rest, with a decorative groove either side. The frame is oval in cross section, and is titled so that the outer face slopes outwards and downwards towards the rear. It has an even mid- green coloured well preserved surface patina. Weight 2.7g. The fragment comes from one end of the strip, which tapers to a rounded terminal. Before the terminal is a countersunk peircing for a rivet, followed by a rectangular length before its break across a second peircing. A sherd from the rim of a cermaic vessel - the sherd has been heavily over fired or possibly burnt. In form it most resembles Roman Black burnishedwares although the fabric is very course and similar to that of medieval cooking vessels being mica-rich and with significant amounts of rounded quartz inclusions. The internal rim of vessel is raised with a distinct curved projection which is emphasised by a circumferential incised groove. The shank of the pin tapers to a blunt end. A complete copper alloy Jetton of Late Medieval or Post Mediaval date. The jetton is heavily corroded with no suface features left. It has a dark green patina which is heavily pitted reveallig the red-brown alloy underneath. By size probably a Tournai Jetton c1450-c1525. Thickness 1.6mm. Diameter 22.6mm. Weight 7.7g.

A partial rod handle from a glazed earthenware jug of Medieval date c1150-c1400. The fabric is a hard earthenware and is light grey in colour, with an oxidised light orange surface. On the outer edge is a green coloured glaze. There is one deliberate hollow puncture on the outer edge of the handle. 38mm high, 25mm in diameter. Weight 31g. A similar handle is HESH-6DB928.

A fragment of a cast, copper alloy buckle of Medieval date. The fragment consists of a plate from the outer edge of the buckle loop upon which the pin would of rested along with a short section of side frame that has become twisted and abraded in the plough soil. In plan the plate is a broad triangle with a rounded apex, the base is shallow arched indicating a D or Oval shaped buckle loop. An incomplete copper alloy thimble. The thimble is domed shape with hand punched dimples arranged in circumfrential rows. The thimble is abraded and corroded and its base rim is lost. The thimble has a dark green with extensive areas of lighter corrosion. Similar thimbles have been dated to the later part of the medieval period (1400-1550) by Edwin Holmes (Sewing Thimbles FRG Datasheet 9). An incomplete cast copper alloy double-looped buckle of Medieval to post-Medieval date (c. AD 1350-c. 1650). The pin is missing / lost. The frame is convex at the front and concave at the rear - forming a D shaped cross section. Each loop of the buckle is similar in size being oval in plan. The narrowed central bar is semi- circular on the front face and flat to the rear in cross-section. The lost pin would have fitted here. A complete cut quarter penny / farthing of Henry III (1216-1272). This is an Irish coin from Dublin mint dating 1251 - 1254. We have the obverse from about 8 O'Clock to 11 O'Clock, with the bottom left corner of the Irish single bordered triangle, with the kings hand in the corner holding the sceptre and the letters EX in the legend, and two ringlets of the kings hair with pellets inside.
