The head of the toggle is broadly irregular being broadly cylindrical (sub-rectangular) in plan with a single triangular loop projecting from one of the long edges. Cast copper alloy bracelet of unknown age – probably late Iron Age – Roman (100 BC-100 AD). The bracelet is formed from a cast length of copper alloy bar which seems to have been twisted in a vice. The twists for the most part are regular, although a series of stress fractures are evident in a number of places. Incomplete fragment from a cast copper alloy cosmetic mortar (also known as cosmetic or woad grinder) of late Iron Age to early Roman date circa 300 BC - 200 AD. The cosmetic mortar is incomplete - all that remains is the looped terminal and a small part of the grinding surface. The loop is cast integral to the body of the mortar and forms one of the terminals. Unusually for the type the loop has a uniform width and thickness; there is no form of junction where the loop returns and meets with the body of the grinder and no decorative motifs. The whetstone is formed from a very fine sedimentary mica rich sandstone or siltstone and bedding planes are clearly visible in the profile. Silver toggle or fitting with globular knop on each side. Narrow body expanding at each end into a globule, creating an overall dumb-bell shape. Globules are of un-uniform size. Copper-alloy and bone examples of similar objects have been dated to the Iron Age, a similar shaped toggle can be found in Read (2005). An Iron Age object of this type is extremely rare.
