Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
An incomplete, copper alloy object, possibly a double faced pilgrim badge of Post Medieval to Modern date date (c. AD 1600-1900). The original object would have been 'vesica-shaped' (pointed oval), but large sections are missing from the object from around 9 o'clock to 12 o'clock and from 12 o'clock to around 3 o'clock on the obverse. The object is also bent slightly upwards on the obverse from around 1 o'clock to 5 o'clock in a straight line whilst being more severely bent upwards around 7 o'clock on the obverse. The obverse is …

A lead alloy weight of probably Medieval to Post Medieval date (c. AD 1100-1800). The object is discoid with a raised rim around the edge of the obverse. There are two prominent grooves in the rim, one at around 12 o'clock (8.42mm long, 2.34mm wide) and one at 7 o'clock (9.02mm long, 1.85mm wide). There is a raised, separate trapezoidal lead alloy section (18.56mm long, 10.38mm wide) that is attached to the obverse via a rusted rivet or nail at an oblique angle near the centre from 10 o'clock to 12 o'clock. In the centre, there is a single, transverse engrave…

A lead alloy weight, possibly a pump seal weight, of likely Post Medieval date (c. AD 1650-1800). The weight is sub-rectangular in plan, profile, and cross section. On the top of the weight, there is a sub-rectangular recess where the left and right hand edges are raised and in the centre there is a sub-oval lug (26.19mm long, 22.75mm wide). On the reverse, there are two raised sections on both the left and right hand side that both curve inwards, creating a recess that has larger, trapezoidal sections at the top and the bottom of the weight connected by a narrower sub-rectangula…

An incomplete, cast copper alloy crotal bell of Post Medieval date (c. AD 1500-1700). The object is composed of two hemispheres divided by a raised, circumferential rib. The top hemisphere is complete and has two sound holes on opposite sides of the bell, one with a 6.94mm diameter and the other a 4.55mm diameter. There is a transverse suspension loop that is roughly shaped like a parallelogram in profile, with a sub-triangular top edge of the suspensions loop and the left and right hand edges being rectangular. An incomplete, lead alloy discoid object, possibly a uniface token of Medieval to Post Medieval date (c. AD 1400-1800). The object is irregularly shaped, being largely semi-circular from 2 o'clock to 9 o'clock on the obverse, with a section that is trapezoidal from 9 o'clock to 2 o'clock. There is a raised border around the edge of the obverse, whilst obverse has an uncertain design that appears to possibly be some form of bust with what appears to be a crown near the top of the token and a hexagonal shaped face beneath. Thus, it may be a Powell Type 10 …

An incomplete, lead alloy bag seal of Post Medieval to Modern date c. AD 1600-1950. The object is roughly sub-rectangular in plan and rectangular in cross-section. It has a slot on one end and a bifurcated slot on the other so as to allow a drawstring to pass through, though the two discs are pressed together quite tightly. There is no visible surviving decoration on either the obverse or the reverse, except perhaps some remnant of a raised circular border on the obverse around 7 o'clock to 8 o'clock. A lead alloy weight or token of Medieval to Post Medieval date (c. AD 1400-1800). The object is circular in plan and rectangular in cross-section. It has a relatively uniform thickness and there is no extant decoration on either the obverse or the reverse. There are the possible remnants of a central pellet on the obverse, since there is a slightly circular raised section in the centre that shows signs of breakage in the past, however, there does not appear to be any strong evidence to suggest it was an intentionally moulded pellet rather than an accidental product of casting. The dis…

An incomplete, lead alloy uniface token of Medieval to Post Medieval date (c. AD 1400-1800). The token was originally circular in plan, though around one quarter is now missing, and is uniface. The token is heavily worn, and the only clearly observable features on the obverse is a central raised rib. There is a straight raised line running from near the bottom of the central line to around 8 o'clock and what may be the remnants of triangular depressions on the right hand side, though these may be more due to post depositional abrasion, especially given that the…

A lead alloy uniface token of Medieval to Post Medieval date (c. AD 1400-1800). The token is roughly circular in plan and is uniface. The obverse is decorated with an unusual design. This design consists of an off-centre, horizontal, thicker raised rib. Near the centre of this line, there emerges another raised rib that forks part way along, resulting in three raised lines heading towards the edge of the token. On either side of this central forked object, there are two curved lines. Below the off-centre, thicker line, there are three raised ribs tha…

An incomplete, lead alloy uniface token of Medieval to Post Medieval date (c. AD 1400-1800). The token is roughly sub-oval in plan and is uniface. The obverse is decorated with a very worn design consisting of 4 surviving raised ribs radiating from a central pellet towards a raised border, with pellets in the top two segments. There appears to have formerly been more raised ribs and possibly more pellets. This design would fit under Powell Type 3. An incomplete, lead alloy uniface token of Medieval to Post Medieval date (c. AD 1400-1800). The token is roughly circuar and is uniface. The obverse is decorated with an extremely worn design, now consisting of 6 raised curved lines radiating from the centre to the remnants of a raised border edge, though the number of radiating lines would have likely been closer to 10 originally. This would make the token conform to Powell Type 3. The obverse is convex and the reverse is undecorated and concave, with there being a domed section of the obverse around 7 …

An incomplete, lead alloy seal of likely Modern date (c. AD 1800-1950). The object is sub-oval in plan and sub-rectangular in cross section. It appears to be of the bulla type, with a central hole through which a fastening cord would be passed prior to stamping. There are remnants of an iron attachment protruding from the object around 2 o'clock and 10 o'clock on the obverse, and there is iron staining on bumps on the reverse following an oblique path from the protrusion at 10 o'clock on the obverse. The object has a lozenge shaped cross section at the top starting at 3.87mm wide and 3.82mm thick. An incomplete, copper alloy strap fitting of Post Medieval date (c. AD 1550-1800). The object is a bar mount with terminal sub-oval lobes at either end. The object is plano-convex, with a domed front and a largely flat reverse, except for the stubs of integral attachment spikes at both the top and bottom of the object. The object is extremely worn, and so whilst it may appear that there are no obvious remnants of what were raised ribs on the central segment of the object, akin to those found on HAMP-5F6AA8, this does not preclude the object from having had them at some point…
