A lead alloy weight of probably Medieval to Post Medieval date (c. AD 1100-1800). The object is discoid with a raised rim around the edge of the obverse. There are two prominent grooves in the rim, one at around 12 o'clock (8.42mm long, 2.34mm wide) and one at 7 o'clock (9.02mm long, 1.85mm wide). There is a raised, separate trapezoidal lead alloy section (18.56mm long, 10.38mm wide) that is attached to the obverse via a rusted rivet or nail at an oblique angle near the centre from 10 o'clock to 12 o'clock. A lead alloy weight, possibly a pump seal weight, of likely Post Medieval date (c. AD 1650-1800). The weight is sub-rectangular in plan, profile, and cross section. On the top of the weight, there is a sub-rectangular recess where the left and right hand edges are raised and in the centre there is a sub-oval lug (26.19mm long, 22.75mm wide). On the reverse, there are two raised sections on both the left and right hand side that both curve inwards, creating a recess that has larger, trapezoidal sections at the top and the bottom of the weight connected by a narrower sub-rectangula…

A lead alloy weight or token of Medieval to Post Medieval date (c. AD 1400-1800). The object is circular in plan and rectangular in cross-section. It has a relatively uniform thickness and there is no extant decoration on either the obverse or the reverse. There are the possible remnants of a central pellet on the obverse, since there is a slightly circular raised section in the centre that shows signs of breakage in the past, however, there does not appear to be any strong evidence to suggest it was an intentionally moulded pellet rather than an accidental product of casting. The dis…

A Post Medieval copper alloy trade weight of Charles I or II (1625-1649 or 1660-1685). The weight is discoidal, its upper side is concave, has a raised rim, and a central circular indentation which is 12.8mm in diameter. Around this circle there are four mostly well-defined stamp marks and a very faint one: 1) a crowned CR monogram (the R is barely discernible), which marks this weight as having been made during Charles’ reign, 2) a sword hilt, 3) the letter A, for the avoirdupois system, 4) an unclear stamp, shaped like a D, possibly the tip of the sword whose hilt can be seen o…

Perforated stone weight of uncertain date possibly medieval The weight is of irregular rectangular form (93.9mm long, 66.6mm wide and weighing 150.5g), of variable thickness (with a maximum thickness of 19.5mm) and is made from a coarse-grained sandstone. The top edge and one of the side edges appear to be moderately rounded and are likely to be unmodified, while the other two edges are irregular and probably trimmed to the desired shape. The perforation is circular (10.6mm diameter) and is wider at one face, but appears to have been drilled rather than pecked. One face (convex) …

A complete cast lead or lead alloy weight of probable medieval date (1300 - 1550). The weight is broadly oval (sub-rectangular with tapering sides terminating in blunt points) in plan and cross section. On the upper point is an integral cast suspension loop which would have been circular in plan and oval in cross section but is distorted, probably from plough damage. The perforation / hole through the centre is also oval and again distorted. The body of the weight has a large central rib which extends from the upper edge to the base. The weight seems to be relatively undecorated. The …

Medieval decorated lead weight with heraldic device of 13th or 14th century date, possibly a quarter-pound Troy weight The weight is of shield-shaped form (44.5mm long and 34.3mm wide) and appears to be complete, weighing 126.4g. The integral base has a border (4 -5mm wide and 7mm thick) decorated with raised pellets at each side and with two trefoil devices on the upper edge. There is a raised inner shield-shaped device (14.4mm thick). At the centre of the border, cutting the top edge of the raised shield is a rectangular slot, which may have penetrated to the base. A cast lead alloy circular ball (similar in size and shape to a musket ball) of probable post medieval 1600-1800 date. The ball has a circular shaped hole through its mid point (5.19mm in diameter) and has no sign of decoration, casting seam or casting spur. It is a light grey colour with a relatively thick surface patina. It is highly unlikely that the ball is from shot and instead is suggested to be from a line or net weight. The ball measures: 16.35mm in diameter, 14.76mm high and weighs 20.0 grams

The weight is sub-circular (formed from eight uneven and irregular facets / faces) in plan and sub-triangular (conical) in profile. Through the centre of the weight is a cast conical hole.
