Glazed fragment of a floor tile of medieval date (1250-1450). The fragment is sub-rectangular in both plan and cross section and measures 50.2mm in length, 48.3mm width and is 22.9mm thick. It weighs 54.8 grams. The fabric of the tile is relatively hard with a number of angular and sub-angular quartz and grit inclusions. The fabric colour is two-tone, the outer a mid orange brown and the inner (core) a mid grey. The fabric is a very hard fired earthen ware with a number of small angular and sub-angular grit and quartz inclusions. The fabric colour is mid-brown black. Rim sherd of a large burnished wheel thrown vessel (Black Burnished Ware) probably used for storage dating from the Roman period (43-410 AD). The fabric is a mid grey - black colour with a number of small frequent rounded and angular grit inclusions. The outer and inner surfaces of the sherd are a mid-dark brown / black colour: the outer surface has also been burnished. There is no glaze present. From the rim of the sherd a diameter for the pot can be estimated, this would be approximately 24cm.
