An abraded tertiary debitage / waste flake of probable later Neolithic date (4500-2000 BC). The flake is irregular in form being broadly triangular in shape. The upper (dorsal) face has the remains of removal scars. The edges are slightly denticulaed but this is most likely due to movement in the ploughzone (plough bumble). The flake is very thin being a mid grey colour. The flakes measures 17mm length, is 15mm wide and 2mm thick

An incomplete knapped and flaked flint knife blade / scraper of later Neolithic or Early Bronze Age date (3000-2000BC). The knife is formed on a flake of secondary debitage. The fragment is broadly oval in plan and has a D shaped cross section. The dorsal face has multiple flaking facets and the edges have been retouched with neat well organised overlapping flakes which can be described as invasive semi-abrupt and stepped. A small area of yellow cortex is present on the dorsal face and this is stained an orange colour by the environment. From this area of cortex relatively neat flake…

A large broad backed blade like flake of igneous stone - dolerite (grantite). The flake is broadly rectangular in shape and lentoid in cross section. In form the two long edges of the dorsal and ventral faces has been worked / knapped to form a very crude serrated edge. The retouch is crude and applied with a hard hammer. Likewise the flake seems to have been struck from a larger prepared core using a single blow from a hard hammer. One end is broken and patinated suggesting damage in antiquity. Antiquaruian sources indicate that similar tools have been recovered from archaeologica…

The external long edge of the tang has been worked and shaped on only the dorsal face. The retouch applied is best described as scaled, short and semi-abrupt. Similar flint oblique arrowheads are associated with Grooved pottery of the later Neolithic 3000 - 2100 BC (Butler 2005: 158-160 after G…

A broad primary debitage waste flake of probable later Neolithic date (4500-2500 BC) utilised to form a scraper. The flake is broadly D shaped in plan and in section; the 90% of the dorsal face is covered with mid grey white chalk derrived cortex. The flake has been removed from a prepared core and a prepared striking platform can be seen on the butt and bulbar scar on the ventral face. The terminal end of the flake has been retouched along its D shaped edge to create a compact scrapping and cutting edge. The retouch can be described as short, stepped, abrupt. There is no retouch on t…

A broad tertiary debitage waste flake of probable later Neolithic date (4500-2500 BC) utilised to form a scraper. The flake is broadly D shaped in plan and in sectionthere is no cortex present. Both the ventral and dorsal faces are knapped and exhibit broad flake removals, suggesting that this may be considered to be a core of sorts. The long crescentic edge is crudely retouched from both sides with short, stepped semi-abrupt retouch applied imprecisesly creating a poor or disordered cutting or scraping edge. The flint is a light-grey colour. It is likely that this secorndary retouch …

A long broad blade like flake of probable later Neolithic date (4500-2500 BC). The blade is broadly rectangular in plan and in section with a distinct 'backed' dorsal ridge - it is from the secondary preparation of a core. A very small area of mid-cream coloured cortex is present on the dorsal face. The ventral face shows conchoidal ripples but the bulb of percussion and striking platform have been removed through snapping. Both long edges and the tip have been extensively retouched. The dorsal face has also had significant areas of retouch. This level of retouch is unusual on blades …

The dorsal has a series of long flake removal scars and both the long edges are retouched with irregular unorganised secondary working. The tip is snapped and the break is unpatinated.
