A complete penny of Edward III - most probably from the 3rd 'florin' coinage - 1344-51. The penny is well worn and crumpled. The coin is double struck. The first strike was off flan as I can make out the inner edge of the first legend outside of the second legend. The only descernable part of the legend is DVS followed by a single saltire stop. Only one lock of hair is descernable in the portrait. On the reverse I can make out RACI C in the legend, and a quatre foil at the centre of the cross. Making this an Archiepiscopal issue from York. Diameter 18.4mm, weight 0.9g

Silver broken groat probably of Edward III struck in London during his 4th coinage (pre-treaty series C or D - most probably a D/C mule). The coin is broken rather than being cut - this damage appears to be in antiquity. It is possible that the coin has also been clipped
