A heavily clipped, silver sixpence of Charles I, 1625-1649. Obverse shows kings crowned bust facing left with VI behind head. Rear shows flat topped shield, area above shield too worn to see any date or symbol. The majority of the legends have been lost to clipping. The date range of this coin can be reduced to the period 1625-1629 due to the use of a square topped shield over long cross fourchee (rather than later oval or garnished shields). This suggests this coin was struck within Group A or B Thickness 0.5mm, maximum clipped diameter 22mm. Weight 1.8g

A heavily worn silver half groat of Charles I (1625-1649) struck at the tower mint. There initial marks are not preserved, however, the reverse depicts a rounded shield within an inner ring - which corresponds with Group D coins North 2258 dated between 1639-1649. The coin has been pierced by a oval hole driven from the obverse through to the reverse - the hole is positioned at 3 o'clock on the obverse which has destroyed the value mark but avoided the bust of the king
