A lead alloy weight of probably Medieval to Post Medieval date (c. AD 1100-1800). The object is discoid with a raised rim around the edge of the obverse. There are two prominent grooves in the rim, one at around 12 o'clock (8.42mm long, 2.34mm wide) and one at 7 o'clock (9.02mm long, 1.85mm wide). There is a raised, separate trapezoidal lead alloy section (18.56mm long, 10.38mm wide) that is attached to the obverse via a rusted rivet or nail at an oblique angle near the centre from 10 o'clock to 12 o'clock. In the centre, there is a single, transverse engrave…

A lead alloy weight, possibly a pump seal weight, of likely Post Medieval date (c. AD 1650-1800). The weight is sub-rectangular in plan, profile, and cross section. On the top of the weight, there is a sub-rectangular recess where the left and right hand edges are raised and in the centre there is a sub-oval lug (26.19mm long, 22.75mm wide). On the reverse, there are two raised sections on both the left and right hand side that both curve inwards, creating a recess that has larger, trapezoidal sections at the top and the bottom of the weight connected by a narrower sub-rectangula…

A Post Medieval copper alloy trade weight of Charles I or II (1625-1649 or 1660-1685). The weight is discoidal, its upper side is concave, has a raised rim, and a central circular indentation which is 12.8mm in diameter. Around this circle there are four mostly well-defined stamp marks and a very faint one: 1) a crowned CR monogram (the R is barely discernible), which marks this weight as having been made during Charles’ reign, 2) a sword hilt, 3) the letter A, for the avoirdupois system, 4) an unclear stamp, shaped like a D, possibly the tip of the sword whose hilt can be seen o…

A cast lead alloy circular ball (similar in size and shape to a musket ball) of probable post medieval 1600-1800 date. The ball has a circular shaped hole through its mid point (5.19mm in diameter) and has no sign of decoration, casting seam or casting spur. It is a light grey colour with a relatively thick surface patina. It is highly unlikely that the ball is from shot and instead is suggested to be from a line or net weight. The ball measures: 16.35mm in diameter, 14.76mm high and weighs 20.0 grams

A complete lead alloy weight of probable later post medieval date. The weight is circular in plan and the upper surface is decorated with a relatively simplistic design. The upper surface has a raised rim whose internal edge is serrated with incised triangular marks. The internal field is decorated with an incised design depicting a female figure wearing a smock like dress and pointed hat, holding a yoke across their shoulder from which are suspended two pales - one either side. It is possible that there are two birds sat / perched on the yoke but details are lost due to wear and cond…

A cast lead alloy weight or possibly a stopper of uncertain age; most probably later medieval or post medieval (1200-1800). The weight is broadly square shaped in plan with a faceted and waisted profile. From the lower edge a square sectioned project extends; this projection is not pierced. The upper surface is slightly domed and heavily abraded; a series of geometric marks are present but these could be as a result of movement in the ploughsoil. The weight is a mid grey white colour with a soft powdery surface corrosion. The exact nature of the function of this artefact is uncertain …
