An incomplete cast lead alloy weight of unknown date. This plain, crude lead weight is broadly concial in shape and weighs one pound (491g). The weight originally had an iron loop, the stubs of which protude from opposite sides near the top. The conical shape has a broad rounded top, and around the base there is a wide, uneven lip. The weight has a cream patina, with the underlying grey metal showing at the sight of a recent plough strike.
The weight is 39.6mm tall and has a maximum diameter of 54.3mm.
The weight is similar to example 69 and 75 in Biggs and Withers, Lead Weights.

A complete cast lead alloy Medieval spindle whorl. It is biconical in shape, with a circular perforation in the centre. The whorl has a hole in one side due to a casting flaw. One end of the piercing has a rounded lip. There is no descernable decoration. The spindle is light grey in colour.
The spindle is 24.8mm in diameter, and 14.0mm high. The piercing is 9.4mm in diameter at the plain end and 10.0mm at the lipped end.
The whorl weighs 24.6g.

A cast lead alloy suspended weight of uncertain date. The crude weight has a flat base and a broadly round cross section which gradually tapers up to the narrow top where an iron loop suspension passed through its body. The stumps of the loop are present at either end. The weight is plain with an off white lead-oxide pationa. There are some rust stains at the top near the stumps of the iron loop.

A cast lead alloy weight or possibly a stopper of uncertain age; most probably later medieval or post medieval (1200-1800). The weight is broadly square shaped in plan with a faceted and waisted profile. From the lower edge a square sectioned project extends; this projection is not pierced. The upper surface is slightly domed and heavily abraded; a series of geometric marks are present but these could be as a result of movement in the ploughsoil. The weight is a mid grey white colour with a soft powdery surface corrosion. The exact nature of the function of this artefact is uncertain …

Cast lead or lead alloy line weight of Roman to Post Medieval date (1 - 1650 AD). The weight is sub-circular in plan. The central hole is broadly circular and has been cast / set slightly off centre. The diameter of the hole measures 5.6mm x 4.2mm. The artefact is a mid-light grey cream colour with an even broken patina. It has also been abraded and rolled in the plough soil and the edges have been damaged. These weights are used for a long period of time and have multiple functions including holding down lines and nets (for rabbiting - for example).

A cast lead weight of Roman to Post Medieval date (1 - 1650 AD), most probably Roman (AD50-350). The weight is broadly circular in plan and D shaped in cross section; it has been heavily eroded in the soil. The central hole is a an irregular oval shape and has been cast / set off centre; it has an internal diameter of 8.1mm. Both faces are plain and undecorated. The weight has a cream - white coloured surface patina. Weights are used for a long period of time and as such are very difficult to date precisely without other evidence (such as pottery).
