A 17th-century post-medieval copper-alloy quarter ounce trade weight, dating from the reign of Charles I or II (1625-1685). The pan weight is formed of a thick disc. On the front there is a raised circumferential rim with an incuse ring at the centre, surrounded by fine circumferential turning marks. There are three stamped marks on the front: a crowned letter 'C' (at 11 o'clock), which is the royal cypher; The dagger of St. Paul (at 1 'clock), for London, the place of its manufacture; a ewer (at 6 o'clock), for the Founders Company of London. Cast lead alloy weight, of unknown date probably later medieval 1300-1800 AD. The weight is sub-circular in plan and sub-rectangular in profile; in cross section it is an irregular circle. Through the centre is a sub-circular hole (11.6mm x 12.8mm) The upper edge on the internal face of the hole are a series of worn grooves, presumably from cord, the grooves have an even width of 1.8mm each. Copper alloy trade weight, disc shaped, one face plain the other has a narrow line around its edge and a central hollow, 3.0mm diameter. Near the edge of the disc is a stamp mark consisting of a crowned H or N. Turning marks on face.
