Sherd from the base of an unglazed Severn Valley style vessel, probably a jug or storage vessel, dating from the Roman period (50-350 AD). The fabric is of a soft fired earthenware with frequent small rounded and sub-angular quartz and grit inclusions. The fabric colour is mid-grey. The outer and inner surfaces of the sherd are a light orange red colour and the surfaces themselves are powdery and soft. There is no glaze present.
