24 complete and snapped flint blades or bladlets of later Mesolithic date (6000BC - 3500BC). These blades are struck from a core and have the generic crested appearance on their dorsal faces. Many of the blades have been deliberately snapped through the removal of side notches and deliberate breaking. The underside / ventral face of each shows conchoidal rippling and some have evidence of bulb of percussion and / or striking platforms. All the blades have some form of retouch along their long edges - this is best described as being disorganised short, sub-parallel, semi-abrupt which cr…

An incomplete snapped flint blade of probable later Mesolithic or early Neolithic date (6000BC - 3500BC). The flint tool, probably best described as a knife, is broadly sub-rectangular in plan and sub-triangular (crested) in cross section. The blade has been snapped un the upper and lower edges. The bulb of percussion and striking / knapping platform are lost on the lower (ventral) face. The upper (dorsal) face of the blade has a number of clear facets and ridges. Both the long edges have been retouched on the dorsal faces; the retouch is best described as being disorganised short, sub…

A small fragment from the upper part of a snapped long sub-rectangular bladelet of later Mesolithic or early Neolithic date (4500 - 2800 BC). The bladelet is heavily rolled and abraded; it has vertical removals on the dorsal face and conchoidal ripples on the ventral. There is no retouch present. The proximal end has the remains of a prepared knapping platform. The flint is very coarse being a light brown grey colour with slightly crystalline (cherty) structure. The bladelet measures 20.0mm length, 23.4mm width, is 8.8mm thick and weighs 4.3 grams.

PAS-RC07 Grid A2 A small snapped blade of later Mesolithic date (5500 - 3500 BC). The blade is broadly rectangular in plan and rhomboid in section. The upper dorsal face has a series of linear flake scars present created by the removal of other blades from the core. The reverse (ventral) shows conchoidal fractures, bulb of percussion and striking platform. The blade was originally much longer but the lower part is now lost / detached possibly via flaking in the Mesolithic. The two long edges both exhibit retouch creating serrated edges. The flint is a mid grey brown colour with …

They are also both small but complete showing prepared striking platform and bulb of percussion. The larger blade is a mid black grey colour; the long edges show no signs of retouch (although they are abraded in the plough soil). The base of the dorsal face shows a distinct overhang where the removal of the previous blade had left a small projection caused by a hinge fracture.
