Nine fragments of Roman ceramic building material. One is likely to be part of a mainated oxidised mica rich tile, whilst the other eight are fired earth, possibly from daub as all have organic inclusions and a coarse matrix. All nine pieces are dated by their association with a substantial assemblage of Roman pottery although late medieval and post medieval material has been recovered from the same garden in the past The CBM weighs 90.3grams

Twp fragments of a Roman roof tile, possibly an imbrex, dating to AD 43- 410. The fragments are sub-rectangular in plan and is curved in cross-section. The surfaces and cores are orange-red in colour. The tiles have occasional white quartz inclusions, and are micacous. Tile 1 is 117.81 mm in maximum length, 85.84 mm in maximum width, 25.37 mm in thickness, and weighs 193.39g. Tile 2 is 98.37 mm in maximum length, 52.6 mm in maximum width, 22.75 mm in thickness, and weighs 134.49g. The bulk weight is 327.88 grams

The fragment is relatively robust and is likely that it is the fired remnants of rough brick or tile as it has a smooth flattened side and a rough side. The fabric of the sherd is a very soft earthenware with a powdery surface, a uniform orange colour and has grog temper with scarce inclusions of angular black iron stone.
