A Post Medieval silver sixpence of William III (AD 1694-1702). York mint dating to AD 1696 (Spink 3526). Spink (2000: 328). A heavily eroded post medieval forged silver sixpence of probable 17th century date. The coin has a mid green coloured abraded core over which a silver / tin wash has applied and the surface has decayed. Almost all detail is lost - making identification very difficult. From what can be seen a later 17th century date is preferred - possibly being a copy of a William III sixpence 22.2mm diameter, 1.4mm thick. Weight: 2.99 grams
