Roman copper alloy bow brooch of Polden Hill type and of 1st or 2nd century AD date The cast brooch is incomplete, missing the spring, catch-plate and foot (with a surviving length of 58.2mm, a depth of 15.5mm and a weight of 13.9g). The missing spring was housed within semi-cylindrical wings (27.3mm wide and 7.6mm diameter) with the axis bar secured with perforated end lugs and the chord tensioned by a lug at the head. An incomplete cast copper alloy Roman trumpet brooch of Chester variant dating to the 1st-2nd century AD. The head is oval in plan and measures 13.1mm high and 14.2mm wide. The head is flat, slightly cupped from corrosion on the reverse with a single sub-rectangular lug containing the remains of the spring or pin. The top has a flattened projection in which is an offset hole or suspension loop. Inside the hole remains a piece of copper alloy wire measuring 2.5mm in diameter.
