A complete Late Mesolithic to Early Neolithic flake. The flake has an irregular, sub-leaf, shape. Its cross-section is triangular, with the apex being the prominent dorsal ridge. The ventral face has a bulb of percussion with faint concentric ripples. The dorsal face as one prominent ridge along its length, this runs diagonally from the striking platform towards one edge, half way down the flake this ridge turns inwards and runs diagnally towards the centre of the fint tip. On the dorsal face there are short sections of retouch on both long sides - with a small knapped notch toward…

A Mesolithic or Neolithic flint secondary flake or blade. The flake is broken at both ends and based upon the difference in patina at the break this was apparently done in antiquity. In section the flake or blade is trapezoidal, and in plan it is almost square. The flake measures 9.83mm long, 12.47mm wide, 1.82mm wide and weighs 0.3 grams. As the length is shorter than the width of the object, the identification of it being a blade is uncertain, therefore described as a flake. It dates to the Mesolithic or Neolithic periods (-8300 - -2900).

A Mesolithic or Neolithic flint secondary flake or blade. The flake is triangular in section and in profile, with the dorsal surface having three negative scars forming a central peak. The proximal end is obliquely angled and has some re-touch, the distal end has possible re-touch. The flake measures 20.86mm long, 8.33mm wide, 3.5mm thick and weighs 0.5grams. As the length is shorter than the width of the object, the identification of it being a blade is uncertain, therefore described as a flake. The nature of the three scars on the dorsal surface may suggest a rejuvenation flake …

A large flint flake, probably Mesolithic, and possibly a flake removed during core rejuvenation. There appears to be negative removal scars on two sides of the flake. There are two small areas of cortex remaining on the flake, one of which occurs at what seems to have been the striking platform. There is no clear evidence for the flake having been subject to further retouch after it was removed from the core. The flint is a grey to cream in colour with areas of brown ochre. The remaining cortex is a darker brown in colour. It measures 45.7 mm in length, 23.7 mm wide, 12 mm thick and w…

A Mesolithic flint flake. The flake may have some retouch at the proximal end, although it is also possible that this is associated with prepration of the striking platform on the core prior to the knapping of the flake. There appears not to be any further evidence for retouch. The flint has a cream patina. It is sub-triangular in section and measures 19.91 mm long, 6.78 mm wide, 1.77 mm thick and weighs 0.2 grams.

A flint flake, probably Mesolithic in date. The flake does not appear to have been deliberately retouched along either lateral edge. There may be retouch at the distal end, although it is possible that this occurred whilst the flake was still attached to the core. The flake is slightly cortical at the proximal end. The flint used is a pale cream colour with small brown inclusions. It measures 44.07 mm long, 15 mm wide, 7.61 mm thick and weighs 4.9 grams.

A flint flake, probably Mesolithic in date. What appears to be retouch along one edge is probably more recent damage as there is a clear discrepancy between the brown/ochre patina of the surface of the flake and the grey patina at this edge. It measures 38.88 mm long, 17.07 mm wide, 8.68 mm thick and weighs 4.7 grams.

A Mesolithic flint flake, subject to a small amount of retouch. The flake is irregularly shaped, and may have been broken. No clear bulb of percussion is visible and it is difficult to determine where the flake was struck. One edge appears to have some retouch. The flake is sub triangular in shape and trapezoidal in section. It measures 25.08 mm long, 19.71 mm wide, 4.26 mm thickand weighs 1.6 grams. It has a pale grey to pink patina.

A Mesolithic flint implement, probably a waste flake. The flake does not seem to have been retouched after having been struck from the core. A possible notch on the left lateral edge may simply be damage. The flake measures 32.4 mm long, 10.57 mm wide, 4.25 mm thick and weighs 1.5 grams. It is sub-trapezoidal in section. The flint has a pale grey to white patina.

A Mesolithic broken flake. The flake does not seem to have been retouched after having been struck from the core. It has been broken at some point since deposition, as the grey patina at the break differs from that on the surface of the flint which is a pale cream colour. The flake measures 25.5 mm long, 15.94 mm wide, 4.84 mm thick and weighs 2.0 grams. It is sub-triangular in section.

A broken Mesolithic flint flake, which judging by its patina was broken in prehistory. It appears not to have been subject to retouch after being knapped. It measures 14.51 mm long, 11.28 mm wide, 2.13 mm thick and is 0.3 grams in weight. It is trapezoidal in section. The flint is a cream colour.

A Mesolithic flint flake. The flake measures 33.81 mm long, 16.5 mm wide, 4.8 mm thick and weighs 2.0 grams. There is possibly some slight retouch on the right lateral edge near the distal end. The flake is sub-triangular in shape. The flint is pale grey to white in colour. A pink tinge to the flint at the proximal end which is at odds with the rest of the colour of the flint may relate to heat treatment of the core before the flake was knapped.

A Mesolithic flint flake. The flake is broken at both ends and based upon the difference in patina at the break this was apparently done some time after deposition of the flint, but how long ago is difficult to say. There is some irregular retouch on both lateral edges, but as this is quite irregular it may be more likely to relate to damage than deliberate working. The flake measures 20.97 mm long, 11.11 mm wide, 2.83 mm wide and weighs 0.9 grams. It is trapezoidal in section. It has a pale grey patina which is a darker grey to brown at the breaks.

A Mesolithic flint flake. The flake appears to be broken, and based on the patina this break is ancient. The flake is partially cortical on its right edge. It appears not to have had any significant retouch, although there is a small area of what may be retouch on the right edge near the butt. It is trapezoidal in section and measures 17.75 mm long, 15.91 mm wide, 2.53 mm thick and weighs 0.7 grams. The flint is a pale grey colour.
