A silver denarius of Maximinus I (AD 235-8), dating to AD 236-7 (Reece Period 11). Mint of Rome. RIC IV, p. 142, no. 21; BMC VI, p. 236, no. 173. Obverse: MAXIMINVS PIVS AVG GERM; Laureate, draped and cuirassed right, seen from behind. Reverse: SALVS AVGVSTI, Salus enthroned, facing left, feeding a snake arising from an altar. There is damage to the edges of the coin at 1 and 7 o'clock (from the reverse).
