This object is half of a circular cast copper alloy object with a peripheral flange, which was probably a circular seal box lid.  The object measures 33.3mm (diameter) and is 18.1mm wide, weighing 5.9g.  It is 3.6mm deep at the flange and 1.8mm thick away from the flange. An incomplete copper alloy trumpet brooch of the Roman period, dated to AD75-200. The trumpet style head of the brooch is almost in the shape of a lozenge with a rounded face. On the reverse is a fragment of a centrally positioned lug; no pin or spring remain and the breaks to the lug are worn and corroded. The artefact consists of a fragment of the copper alloy terret ring, broken at both ends and tapering from the base to the sides of the ring. An incomplete copper alloy harness fitting from the Roman period (AD43-410). The object is in the form of a hollow doughnut-shaped bead with a fairly wide aperture ansd curved 'D' shaped sides. The bead's perforation is vertical, straight-sided, and heavily worn, possibly indicating prolonged use. A large assemblage of these harness fittings are recorded as coming from the River Tees at Piercebridge Roman Fort (Walton 2021, p105).
