Fragment of a cast copper alloy Roman South-western T-shaped brooch. Only the end of the bow and the foot of the brooch remain with the lower section of the integral catchplate at the back, broken at the point at which the metal would have been folded over to hold the pin. The front of the brooch has four longitudinal or vertical ribs alternating with grooves, two on either side of a central groove containing transverse or horizontal mouldings making the pattern look cross-ribbed rather than a zig-zag pattern. Cast copper alloy spectacle buckle with rounded ends and trefoil sides with a narrowed strap bar delineated with a groove on either side of bar where it meets the frame. The buckle is abraded but there are traces of moulded decoration on the upper face at the outer edge of each loop. Whitehead (1996) illustrates a very similar example on p.70, no.441. Incomplete cast copper-alloy foot from a vessel, broken just above the junction with a sharply everted flat splayed foot resembling a duck's foot.. There is a trace of a vertical rib off-centre on the upper surface of the foot, but most of the original surface of the item has worn away, except for a patch of black burnt organic material in the angle where the foot splays out from the leg. The base of the foot and the back of the leg are flat, and the broken upper edge where the leg would have continued is plano-convex in section. The particular shape of this foot suggests that the vess…
