The details seem to relate to a hoard third century radiates, the latest mentioned being Probus. The subsequent history of the coins mentions a dealer in Wilford, which may have given rise to some confusion between this find and one in Wilford, IARCH-6F1F31, if they are indeed separate. John Lloyd (of Wollaton) to Edward Lhwyd, Nottingham, 3 October 1695, transcription by Helen Watt and Bryn…

Robertson 2000, 41-42 no. 204: ""Whilst some workmen were recently engaged in laying a gas main in Nottingham City, they came upon an earthenware vessel, or rather vessels, which contained some Roman silver and bronze coins. The depth of the excavation was a little under 3 feet, and the soil was sand with a loam covering. The hoard consisted of 19 silver and 46 bronze coins. The silver coins were all denarii of the imperial period as follows." Then came a list of the 19 denarii ranging from Vespasian to Marcus (under Pius). Robertson 2000, 422 no. 1788: ""Richard Cooper likewise told me of a pot of roman money found at Wilford near Nottingham." W. Stukeley, Itin. Cur, 1724, 101 C. Deering, Nottinghamia Vetus et Nova (1751), Introd. 6, App. 286, cast doubts on the accuracy of Stukeley's statement. Gough's Camden (1789), II, 287, recorded the fact that "on the opposite side of the river at Wilford was dug up in the fields a pot full of copper coins." VCH Notts., II (1910), 35, suggested that Stukeley and Gough's Camden referred to one and the same find. Undated"
