It has a light red slip and presents patches of a dark green glaze. Green glaze is often indicative of a medieval vessel, however the regularity of the glaze on this fragment in terms of application and colour is not enough evidence to suggest it is medieval. A fragment of a post medieval pressmoulded ceramic plate dating to c.AD 1650-1800. The sherd is triangular in shape, with a slight curve to the body. The interior of the fragment which would be the face of the plate has a glazed decoration which is a mix of yellow and dark brown coloured glaze. The glaze appears to be organised as the majority of the plate as yellow with a dark glazing below the rim. Dimensions: Length 26.2mm; width 24.1mm; thickness 5.9mm; weight 5g The object was found in the vacinity of Eaton Roman villa. During the laying of water main in 1886 Roman material including tiles were discovered: https://www.heritagegateway.org.uk/Gateway/Results_Single.aspx?uid=71430&resourceID=19191 This may support this object as Romano-British tile.

A complete ceramic bead of an uncertain date (c.AD 43-1900). The bead is roughly spherical with a slightly flattened top and base. Circular hole perforates the centre and has a diameter of 2.8mm. The surface is undecorated and has an irregular finished surface. It has a mid-brown patina with patches of brighter orange. Dimensions: Diameter 16.45mm; weight 4g Due to a lack of contextual evidence and any diagnostic features it is not possible to date this object any more closely and it could be Roman through to modern in date.
