Broad period: ROMAN
County: Cheshire West and Chester

IARCH record for a scattered hoard of 36 siliquae and one (stray?) nummus found with a metal detector. The site was later investigated by test-pitting but no features were found. Two ceramic sherds were found during this work but it is not certain if they relate to a container for the hoard. See LVPL-B38AFC for details and images. Unpublished catalogue by Vanessa Oakden, David Shotter and Richard Abdy.

Covered by a stone. "A small cup-shaped vase" described as being broken on discovery. The vessel in the Grosvenor Museum was described as an 'olla', with only 5 out of the 7 sherds being from the same vessel. This is identified by Robertson as a Black-Burnished ware cooking pot and thought to have been the container due to staining on the interior. Robertson also notes that the base of a BB ware jar is in the Eaton Estate Office. An image of the hoard display sent by the Estate Office also shows an olla (possibly of bronze) so it seems there were two vessels associated with the hoard.
