A copper alloy Roman brooch, probably a Langdon Down type dating from 25 - 60 AD. The brooch is 48.71mm long, 14.6mm wide and 4.43mm thick. It weighs 2.4g. The brooch is made from a thin piece of copper alloy which forms the bow and divides at the head to form the spring casing. The bow is bent so the brooch is flat now. There is a raised line up most of the back of the bow. This is the remains of the catchplate which extends up most of the back of the bow. The spring and the pin are missing.
