A copper-alloy mount, probably a furniture fitting, dating to the post medieval period (c.AD1700-1900). The zoomorphic mount depicts a bird stood on a plinth. The plinth is oval shaped in plan and concave on its edges. The birds legs and tail project from the plinth. The body is slender and the wings are kept close to the body which leads to the forward pointing head. Neolithic to Bronze Age chert scraper and two possible burins on a tertiary flake. Semi-abrupt sub-parallel retouch to the longest edge to form the scraping edge. At the ends of the working edges there are small angled removals that appear intentional. These result in what appear to be burins or gouges on the respective corners. There are removals to the ventral and dorsal faces that allow the tool to be held more comfortably. Suggested date range c4000 to c1000 AD. Length 29mm, width 20mm, weight 4.16g.

It is decorated with embossed ribs and belongs to the embossed goldwork tradition (see Needham 2000a). The object is formed from a cylindrical band of sheet gold with no visible seams. A raised transverse rib separates the dome of the whistle from the body and a thinner raised transverse rib separates the mouth-piece. Smooth stone probably dating to the later prehistoric period 3500 to 800BC. Probably quartzite and is sub-oval in plan, lenticular in profile and in section. It may have been used as a hammerstones which are hard cobbles used to strike lithic flakes during the process of lithic reduction or crushing minerals. It may also be a rubbing stone used in the manufacture of hide or within a saddle quern to grind grain. The length is 150mm, the width is 140mm and the weight too heavy for scales.

Copper alloy mount probably a suspension arm dated to the post-medieval period 1500 to 1800AD. The mount is now broken but may well have been equal armed with a fixed hoop at right angles to the length. It has not been possible to find a parallel for this object. The hoop does not swivel making it unlikely that it is a purse bar it is most likely horse harness related. The length is 94mm, the width is 23mm thickness 23mm and the weight 21.43g.

An incomplete copper alloy Middle Bronze Age (c.1600-c.1000 BC) spearhead missing part of its socket. The spearhead has a leaf-shaped blade and is bent (possibly deliberately) so that it curves slightly towards the tip. The blade appears to have had slightly curved cutting edges. A prominent raised circular sectioned midrib runs longitudinally down the centre of each face, all the way to the tip and is lozengiform in cross-section. A cast white metal religious medal of the Post medieval period. This is similar to a miracle medal and probably dates from the 19th century. It is circular and possibly has a suspension loop at the top. One side of the medal depicts Jesus in relief facing left inside a beaded rose orb with halo behind and the other side is inscribed with +IHS+ the Latin for Jesus Christ Saviour with a cross above and symbol for the trinity below within a crown of thorns all within a rose orb beaded border. The diameter is 37mm and the weight 13.16g.

A late medieval corroded iron double looped buckle dating to 15th century. The frame is rectangular with two rectangular loops, separated by a central crossbar. The edges of the loops are rounded. The crossbar flares from the frame with a constriction in the centre for a pin. Part of the pin remains and is formed of a strip of iron cored into the central crossbar. Copper alloy single looped buckle dating 1300 to 1400AD. The buckle has a lipped frame housing a notch for the pin which is now missing. The strap bar is offset to provide a tidier for the buckle plate which is intact. The short tongue indicates that it was probably used for a sword belt. A complete copper alloy hooked strap fitting of post-medieval date 1500-1700AD. The plate is triangular in plan with a concave underside. The side tapers down to a hook that curves back to the underside of the fitting, and which still holds a suspension or attachment loop. There are two rivet holes on the plate, one retaining a rivet, while the top edge of the fitting has a V-shape notch in the centre. An incomplete iron bevelled key hole type horseshoe of post-medieval date, (1550-1880). The object is a typical U-shape in plan with a keyhole profile in the centre and is almost complete. The calkins are rounded and worn. The number and location of the nail holes cannot be determined due to corrosion. This horse shoe is very similar to one on page 41 of Bailey, G. 1997. Detector finds 3. Greenlight (Witham, Essex). 125mm in length, 123mm in width and weight too heavy for scales.

A Roman copper-alloy steelyard balance, probably dating to the late first or second century AD. The steelyard consists of a round sectioned arm with notched calibrations. The side loops correspond with the two sets of calibration notches. Three square sectioned copper alloy wire loops are still present, one at the end of the steelyard and one on a side loop. Several parallels are recorded on the PAS database, including a complete example from Staffordshire (WMID-184456). The ring is a simple gold posy ring circular in plan and D-shaped in section with a wide band, a plain exterior and inscribed inside which is relatively rare with a brief sentiment HUMILITY:IS TRUE:NOBILITY.
