A silver Post Medieval Scottish coin; an eighth thistle merk of James VI (AD 1567 - 1625) dating from AD 1601 - 1603. The coin has part of the edge missing. See Spink's Coins of Scotland, Ireland and the Islands (2003) number 5500 on page 74. The coin is 15.6mm in diameter, 0.4mm thick and weighs 0.64g.
