A worn fragment (approximately a quarter of the coin) of a Medieval silver Continental sterling imitation coin issued by Renaud of Gelderland. These coins imitate English pennies of the same period. It measures c.18mm in diameter and weighs 0.44g (6.8gn). Obverse: Illegible [+COME]S·GL[RENCIS] Reverse: Long cross with three pellets in each quarter [CIVI TA]S ARN [EYM] N with reverse bar Mint: Arnhem, 1272-1326 Reference: Mayhew 180 et seq.

A complete and misshapen medieval silver 'enigmatic' crockard continental imitation of an Edwardian sterling penny (AD 1267-1294) probably dating to c AD 1296-1297. I DVX LIMBVRGIE obverse depicting a crockard bust facing with a chaplet of flowers and wedged drapery. DVX/BRA/BAN/TIE reverse type depicting a long cross dividing the inscription with three pellets in each quadrant.
