A pierced and and chipped Medieval silver Continental sterling imitation penny of Gaucher of Chatilion dating to the period AD 1313 - 1322. Mint of Neufchateau, Belgium. Mayhew (1983: 99) No.248.
The coin is pierced from the the reverse through to the obverse by an irregular circular punctured hole (c.2.2mm diamater). It is also missing part of its circumference between 12 and 1 o'clock, at 4 o'clock and 10 o'clock as seen from the obverse.
