An incomplete and slightly worn Medieval silver Continental imitation of an English sterling penny issued by Louis IV of Bavaria (1314-1347), at Aachen, 1328-1347. Initial mark: eagle. Mayhew 1983: refs: 332-338.
Obverse: (eagle) LVDOVICVS:ROM:REX; Crowned bust facing with a bifoliate crown and wedged drapery.
Reverse: MON/ETA/AQVE/NSIS; Eagle in first quarter, three pellets in the other quarters.
Diameter: 18.0mm. Weight: 1.25g. DA-12:10-11.
