An incomplete Medieval coin: Continental penny of Gui of Collemede, Bishops of Cambrai in France, dating to AD 1296-1306. Mayhew type 99. A similar coin recorded on the Portable Antiquities Scheme database from Worcestershire WAW-1E5F4D states that: Medieval English pennies were widely imitated on the continent and were known as crockards and pollards. A 'Crockard' is a penny with the bust crowned with flowers; a 'Pollard' is a coin without a crown or flowers. A silver Medieval continetal imitation of a sterling penny, issued by Guy de Collemède, Bishop of Cambrai, 1296-1306 AD. The coin is in two joining fragments due to old breaks. Reverse: CAM/ERA/CEN/SIS, Long cross dividing the legend, three pellets in each angle of the cross, one pellet with a stalk creating a clover leaf motif in one of the quadrants.
