A continental copy of an Edwardian penny issued by John the Blind of Luxemburg, King of Bohemia. This coin dates to after he became King of Bohemia in 1310 AD and before he relinquished his claim to the Polish throne in 1335 AD. Meyhew suggests they are relatively early in that period (1983, p103-4) probably 1310-1325 AD. They are usually fine silver (90%+) but a debased (50%) example is known of Mayhew 261. It is probably fine silver but gone brown due to being in iron rich Wealden clay (Mayhew 1983, 267-262).

A very worn, and slightly clipped and bent silver Medieval long cross penny of uncertain ruler and mint. It is likely that this is actually a Continental sterling imitation of an Edwardian type, c. AD 1263-1353. The obverse has extensive wear which has removed the bust and the legend, whilst the reverse is also moderately worn and the circumferential clipping has restricted the legend, making identification difficult. It is possible that instead of a crowned bust on the obverse, the bust is wearing a floral wreath as is common to these types.

A medieval silver coin; a continental sterling imitation crockard of John II of Avesnes, the Count of Hainaut (1280-1307). The mint is Valenciennes in Hainaut. It is suggested that Valenciennes struck the earliest Hainaut sterlings in c. AD1290-1, then was closed during the rebellion of the town against John of Avesnes in 1291-7, and was then reopened in 1297 as documents show. See Mayhew number 24, and 28 - 32. Compare with SWYOR-3F4A35, YORYM-95B641, BH-3C0C57, NARC-55A846 and KENT-7536A7.
