A medieval continental imitation of an Edwardian penny of Guy of Dampierre, Count of Flanders (1274-1297), marquis of Namur (1263-1297). Pollard bust, dating to the period c AD 1292-1296. The coin is folded with the obverse on the outside but the saltires and lombardic 'm' of the reverse are visible. Namur mint. Cf Sterling Imitations of Edwardian Type, Mayhew, Royal Numismatic Society, 1983, London, page 31 numbers 11/12.

A medieval silver 'Crockard' of William of Hainaut or Gui of Collemede, bishops of Cambrai in France, dating to AD 1285-1296 (William) or AD 1296-1306 (Gui). G[VILLS] or G[VIDO] EPISCOPVS obverse depicts a forward facing bust crowned with a chaplet of three flowers. CAM[ERACE]NSIS reverse depicts a long cross with three pellets in each quarter. Medieval English pennies were widely imitated on the continent and were known as crockards and pollards.
