A silver hammered penny of Matilda, dating c. 1139-1142. Type A (struck on a 'Watford' type of Stephen under her name), probably moneyer Gillipatric at the mint of Pembroke. EMC 2018.0400. Dr Martin Allen notes that Gillipatric is previously recorded for Stephen's type 1 penny and Henry I's types 10, 13, 14 and 15. However, no coins issued by Matilda were known to be struck by him This coin, therefore, adds a new mint to Matilda's type A.
