Medieval silver penny of William II 'Rufus' (1087-1100), Cross in quatrefoil type minted by Dunning (DVNIC) at Hastings, 1089-1092 AD, BM ii, North 852. Obverse double-struck. Although the EMC records several coins of Dunning (sometimes expanded as Dunninc) minted at Hastings for William I none are record on the EMC for him under William II. Martin Allen (pers comm) however knows of three or four examples of this ruler/moneyer/mint combination. One in the British Museum (BMC 88) and two or three in private hands.

Medieval coin; struck silver penny of Stephen (or possibly of Matilda), Watford type, dating to c.1136-1145. The mint name is illegible, as is most of the moneyer’s name. However, the surviving letters of the moneyer’s name give the following possibilities: Either Lincoln mint, moneyer Gladewine or London mint, moneyer Baldewine or Smaewine or Thetford mint, moneyer Baldewin. None of these combinations are currently known for the coins of Matilda, suggesting that this is most likely to be a coin of Stephen.
