Facing crowned bust [with sceptre to right]. Band of crown cannot be clearly seen. WILL[ELM] REX Rev. Short cross pattee with an annulet in each quadrant. The annulets contain the letters ‘P / A / X / S’. [W]IHTRI[C] ON LIN[COLNE] Diameter 20.0mm, thickness 0.7mm, weight 1.18g Ref: North ‘English Hammered Coinage’ vol. I (pp. 192, no. 848-850)

A Medieval silver penny of Stephen, 'lozenge fleury and annulets' type, BMC IV, struck on a square flan with chamfered corners. The coin is incomplete, with a piece of the flan missing and only one or two letters legible. The two known mints of this issue are Lincoln and Nottingham.
