Copper alloy halfpenny of William III, over punched. The obverse is worn but the bust, right of William is discernible, as is the legend GVLIELMVS TERTIVS. It has been overpunched with a circular and star? or floral? designs, in one area both of these are combined.  The reverse is very worn but the outline of the Britannia figure, and the lettering __________IA  can be made out. The date is present in the exergue but is illegible in the photographs - the finder informs me that it is a first edition, dated to AD 1699-1701. This side too is overpunche…

Silver sixpence of William III Obverse: First bust right, laurate. GVLIEMVS.III.DEI.GRA. Reverse: Crowned cruciform shields, early harp, central crest Lion rampant (of England). MAG.BR.FRA.ET.HIB.REX.1696. Die axis 6 o'clock There is a possibility that this coin has been clipped. It is a distorted circular shape, and part of the edge appears to have been remilled after clipping. The distortion is most apparant on the rear of the coin when comparing the distance of the crowned sheilds from the edge

Probably a Post Medieval copper alloy George I first 'dump' issue halfpenny. The faces of the coin are quite degraded but what appears to be the right facing bust of George I is just about discernable in favourable light. The diameter and weight also conform to proposed issue, rather than the larger second issue. Probably dates to between c1717 and c1718 AD. Diameter 25mm, weight 5.79g.

Post Medieval silver sixpence of William III, probably 1st bust (1696). It has been folded into an S shape in profile. It is likely another coin was bent with it at the same time to form a matching 'token'. Coins folded in this fashion are often called 'love tokens' but they are probably more likely to be tokens of transactions, partculary deals done between illiterate people or those who did not have recourse to pen and paper, a sort of laymans indentured document. Dates to 1696 AD, and the folding is 18th or 19th century. The diameter is 23mm, and the weight 5.6g. O…

A worn silver, possible, coin. A flat milled disc, worn entirely smooth on both sides. If a coin, this is perhaps most likely to be a sixpence of King William III (AD 1694-1702), issue of AD 1695-1701, though now worn to a much-reduced weight. On both the obverse and reverse there is a longitudal line down the coin at opposite ends to each other, indicating that the coin was likely to have been bent at these points, forming an 'S' shape; this shape has since been flattened back to a disc. If this is the case, the coin may have been used as a love token. It measures 19.49mm in di…
